Government Dictated Services?

I hear the Citizens of South County Missouri are having the services they may employ dictated to them rather than being allowed to choose for themselves!

We are talking trash pickup here, but it really does not matter what it is, or why! As far as I am concerned it is disturbing on its face for a multitude of reasons.

I don’t have a dog in this particular fight since I live in Illinois, so the fight if any is between the Citizens and Residents of South County (private or commercial) and their local government.

But I do understand that this action sets a precedent that will most assuredly be followed by other communities. South County in all likelihood is already following an example previously enacted somewhere else, but where does it stop?

Does the county next dictate what phone or cell service you use, Cable/Satellite/internet service, health and car insurance, auto repair……?

Although I would agree that the county has a vested and justifiable interest in trash being disposed of properly. But if they are dictating exactly what service you may use they are out of line and denying you free choice in your own life and household finances.

This strikes me as a county dictated monopoly which will ultimately drive out free enterprise which can reasonably result in higher prices and deteriorating service, not to mention their next dictating the citizen’s use of other services.

This is the type of local area problem I make this forum and others available for, it is why I made http://STLMutiny.com available to the citizens of St. Louis, I am well aware that the individual citizen does not have time to spend their days engaged in every action of local government, and if yours is anything like mine your options are limited.

One man brought this to my attention, he knows who I am and I will speak with him again and my advice to him and all the citizens of South County is to fight it. I will tell him as I have told others to use the internet to coordinate the efforts of fellow citizens to correct this situation.

Start a grass roots objection to excessive government, Vote the offending politician out, run against them, and make a stand against this inmase….. Your county representatives may gaff off a single citizen or even dozens individually, but they will not long ignore them as an organized group particularly if there are many of them.

Document and post it on line, get copies of public documents through the FOIA and post those as well but most of all publicly voice your objections for the record, and don’t be afraid to go over their heads.

Politicians, the other white meat!
