Over on Topix they’re having a discussion about the amount of taxpayer money spent on sending the City manager of Greenville to South America looking for business opportunities for Greenville, Illinois.

I noted early on that there were one hundred and fourteen posts (114) listed as being in that thread, but clicking on the link only showed about ten posts and some of those were ones that I made.

People do not seem to understand that forums can be set up so that only privileged users can see certain posts. For the most part, forums are composed from PHP and administrators can determine how they are displayed and to whom; that's the way forums work.

Sometimes this is a good thing but at other times it is not so good for the users.

Here is an image of what I see when I look at the topic list in that forum, but if you go there; you will not see the rest of those posts. I would have to ask why?

Seems to me this is a matter that should be of interest to the public. 114 posts would seem to indicate a public interest, so why would the administrators or moderators hide them? Is topix influenced by local government in Greenville to conceal them?

And if so to what purpose?
