I received the following via E-Mail from a friend, and although I have not checked into it further I can safely say that for me the idea has merit if for no other reason than our elected leaders seem incapable of restraining themselves and our citizens seem stymied as to how to deal with the awesome power Government wields against us!
Of course I would go further with the idea!
Quote:Governors of 35 states have already filed suit against the Federal
Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38
(of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.
Really important! Hope you all do it!
This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.
An idea whose time has come
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress.
Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.
The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.
Have each person contact a minimum of twenty people on their Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States ."
You are one of my 20.

Obama reads from his memoirs [message #2457] |

As I listened to this screed apparently blaming all the ills of the world on "White Folks"; two thoughts came to my mind 1st this is a bigoted and racist comment made by a bigoted racist, and 2nd the word "Apathy" aptly describes why he can get away with saying such things. In fact "Apathy aptly describes why this man is now the leader of the free world (or at least fills that position).
Of the dozens of people I know and associate with, fewer than half a dozen even bothered to vote in the last election, of those at least 3 claimed to have voted for Obama (of course they are now reluctant to admit it), the rest are just apathetic when it comes to voting.
Oh they have their reasons they did not like Mc Cain, they had to work, they weren't registered, their vote don't count and a myriad other reasons which can all be summed up as "Apathy".
To my way of thinking it is this "Apathy" more than any other reason that Obama is in the white house, and the America I know is spiraling rapidly downward.
Well I got news for them; I'm developing my own case of "Apathy" about them and their plight as they struggle to pay their utility bills, buy gas, find a new job to replace the one they just lost because of the economy, or any of the many other problems that are rapidly becoming epidemic.
In short I am no longer just holding politicians accountable; I'm holding those who put them in office accountable as well, with particular emphasis on those who know better but are too apathetic to do anything and expect the rest of us to carry their weight.
At least the Moon Bats of the world are actively participating in and for what they believe, even when wrong which is a damn sight more than I can say for those who just sit on the sidelines and do nothing!

COMMENTARY
The Surge Worked
By JOHN MCCAIN and JOE LIEBERMAN
January 10, 2008
“It was exactly one year ago tonight, in a televised address to the nation, that President George W. Bush announced his fateful decision to change course in Iraq, and to send five additional U.S. combat brigades there as part of a new counterinsurgency strategy and under the command of a new general, David Petraeus.
At the time of its announcement, the so-called surge was met with deep skepticism by many Americans -- and understandably so.
After years of mismanagement of the war, many people had grave doubts about whether success in Iraq was possible. In Congress, opposition to the surge from antiwar members was swift and severe. They insisted that Iraq was already "lost," and that there was nothing left to do but accept our defeat and retreat.
In fact, they could not have been more wrong. And had we heeded their calls for retreat, Iraq today would be a country in chaos: a failed state in the heart of the Middle East, overrun by al Qaeda and Iran.”

So just where does Obama place his loyalty? [message #1048] |

So just where does Obama place his loyalty?
How can I or any other citizen accept Obama as a serious candidate for the U.S. Presidency when He refuses to even display his respect and loyalty for our national ensign (flag)?
I have heard enough comments by people trying to justify Obama’s lack of respect for the flag; exhibited by not observing custom and placing his hand over his heart during the national anthem that I could just scream.
I don’t see that there is any valid justification or reason for someone not honoring the flag during the national anthem other than to display their disdain, contempt, and utter disregard for what this nation represents.
And that is the way I look at Obama’s refusal to do so, it certainly seems to me that a candidate facing so much scrutiny because he is black, inexperienced, and has a Muslim heritage (among other things) would be avidly displaying their patriotism if for no other reason than to ward off additional criticism.
But then maybe Obama thinks there is no valid reason to honor the Infidel Flag?
Perhaps he thinks the American public does not care, that they will vote for him because they hate Bush, or because Obama is Black, or maybe because Oprah supports him?
I have heard it said that standing and putting your hand over your heart while you face the flag is not a law! And I got news for you it is not against the law to call your mother a bitch and a whore in front of her and your father, calling a judge by his first name in court, or sticking your hand into a running wood chipper either, But I sure would not recommend doing so.
Why would anyone believe he would respect an oath of office any more than he does the flag.
Read about it on snopes....

TAKE DOWN the FEEDER!
I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it is, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the bird shit. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, and the table...everywhere!
Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore.
So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be ... quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.
Now let's see.... Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 or more families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by a doctor in an emergency room because it is filled with illegals; your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English. Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'Old Glory' are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties. It's just my opinion but: maybe, just maybe, it's time for the government to take down the damn bird feeder.
IF YOU DON'T AGREE THEN CONTINUE TO CLEAN UP THE SHIT!
